A few things that are making me happy this week and that I’m grateful for:
My Magickal Community
Last Sunday, my high priest and high priestess elevated me to the third degree in our Georgian Wicca tradition. On Monday, I underwent the initiatory ritual of receiving elekes (necklaces) from my godfather in the Afro-Cuban religion of Santeria. Both ceremonies were very pretty and I’m blessed to have such wonderful people in my life.
A Day of Pampering
It’s rare that I treat myself to a haircut, manicure, pedicure, and eyebrow shaping all in one day. It was relaxing and felt great.
As Jason (Pitzl-Waters) put it yesterday, if a meteor struck the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose, the Pagan community would be seriously fucked. With more than 75 events daily and prominent Pagans such as Margot Adler, Selena Fox, Starhawk, M. Macha NightMare, Don Frew, T. Thorn Coyle, Orion Foxwood, Ivo Dominguez, Amber K, Donald Michael Kraig, Erynn Laurie, Christopher Penczak, Diana Paxson, R J Stewart, Gus diZeriga, Oberon Zell-Raveheart, Z Budapest, and many others, there’s just nothing like PantheaCon.
The Staff at the DoubleTree Hotel
While I’m going from workshop to ritual and hobnobbing with Big Named Pagans, the crew at the DoubleTree Hotel has been working 15-hour shifts to make sure we’re comfortable and well-fed.
The Nerds of Silicone Valley
I’m so happy to have access to the internet so I can keep up with family, friends, and work.
About the image: At PantheaCon, all guests wear a name badge. It’s become customary for organizations to create colorful ribbons that are then attached to the badge. Most of them come from the hospitality suites. Your badge can get pretty long. I’ve seen some reaching down to the floor.
