A few things that are making me happy this week and that I’m grateful for:
I’m a movie lover and there are so many great films coming to theaters near me. I’ve mentioned Les Miserables before and actor Hugh Jackman recently tweeted that filming has wrapped up for it. It’s due this Christmas. Aside from Les Miserables, another classic comes to the screen: Anna Karenina. I read Tolstoy’s masterful novel many years ago and the film starring Keira Knightley as Anna, Jude Law as Karenin, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Count Vronsky looks beautiful. And for a different kind of classic, this December we can expect The Hobbit: An Unexpected Adventure.
Magpies Beat Eagles
This weekend’s tooth and nail footy match between Collingwood Magpies and West Coast Eagles lived up to its billing as a heavyweight title fight. With an enthralling three-point win, Collingwood knocked the Eagles off the top of the ladder with its ninth successive win.
There’s a lot to be angry about in the world and a lot of lousy people, but – and call me an optimist – I believe most people are good and will do what’s right. After a video of a 68-year-old bus monitor being abused by four teens went viral this week, the internet responded with a fund to send Karen Klein on a much needed vacation. It had a $5000 goal and has now reached over half-a-million much to the great surprise of the grandmother.
Another story that went viral is 21 Pictures That Will Restore Your Faith In Humanity, a collection of photos from BuzzFeed that captures people in beautiful and selfless acts.
Although I’m greatly looking forward to returning to Melbourne, I’m glad I’m not there right now freezing my socks off. Also, this summer marks the eighth anniversary of meeting and circling with my coven for the first time. I met the coven at midsummer in June and became a member at Imbolc the following February.
