Sunday Gratitudes

Melbourne

A few things that are making me happy this week and that I’m grateful for:

The Little Mule

While I was in the city this week, I decided to stop in The Little Mule and check out the bicycle accessories. It turns out that The Little Mule is indeed little. It’s mostly a cafe with a tiny shop in the back where they create beautiful  fixed gear and singlespeed bikes. I decided on a salami and basil-pesto sandwich with sun-dried tomatoes and melted cheese. Cafe food can be hit or miss and this sandwich was delicious.

Books

A few weeks ago I went down to the library and obtained a library card. Normally I just buy books, but I find that checking out fiction and reference is much more cost-efficient and space-saving. I also like sitting in one of the big red comfy seats and catching up on magazines.

Shopping

I bought a few things this week, mostly basics such as socks, tea towels, and a new cover for the ironing board, but by far my favorite purchase was a set of retro-style lights for my retro-style bicycle.

Cool Nights

It’s been pretty hot in Melbourne a few days this week. To my great dismay, this house doesn’t have air conditioning and there’s no chance of installing it anytime soon. Most of the time, it’s not so bad with the fans on and mild breezes traveling through the house, but I can’t sleep in the heat and I am so grateful that it tends to cool down at night right down to the point where it’s almost chilly.

Naps

I don’t nap that often, but I should. Naps are awesome.

What’s making you happy this week?
