Fourth of July at the Magic Kingdom
Spending the holidays at Walt Disney World Resort can be fun and also drive you mad.
We arrived at 9:30am. We decided to arrive early and spend the day because Disney receives extra large numbers of guests on holidays and when the park fills up, it closes and you can’t get in. We took it easy and spent the day walking around and enjoying various attractions, parades, and shows. We had a nice meal at the Liberty Tree Tavern just as it decided to storm for an hour (welcome to Florida!).
When it was time to get in place for the Fourth of July fireworks, we found that while we’d been having a good time in the Haunted Mansion and Stitch’s Great Escape, park guests had been camping out for hours to find and keep a good spot. It was silly really because the fireworks are in the sky over Cinderella Castle. There isn’t a bad spot anywhere in Main Street or the surrounding areas, but here people were, sprawled out in front of the castle and all down Main Street. I’d never seen the Magic Kingdom so busy and it took us two hours to get to the vacation home from the park, which normally takes about 20 minutes.
